Stephen Bullivant | Mass Exodus: The ‘Who?’, ‘When?’ and ‘Why?’ of British Catholic Decline

In this lecture, Stephen Bullivant, prof. of Theology and the Sociology of Religion at St. Mary’s University (London), "investigates commonalities among several mainstream denominations in Europe, the Catholic Church in Britain and their significant decline over a half-century. This is true across a wide range of empirical indicators of religious vitality, including Mass attendance, retention/conversion rates, vocations, etc. Precisely when this decline started, and for what reason or reasons, is a subject of intense debate. This lecture will propose a new answer."

This is the fifth lecture (of seven) in the series "The Many Guises of European Catholicism", that the Centre for Theology and Religious Studies is organizing with support from the Centre for European Studies at Lund University.
